Welcome To The Rewrite™

Community, Connection, and Hope After the Loss of a Spouse

Life may have changed in an instant, but your story is not over.

The ReWrite™ is a welcoming community where men and women who have lost a spouse gather for meaningful conversations, shared meals, encouragement, and authentic connection as they navigate life after loss together.

Whether you join us around a restaurant table in Tulsa or connect through our virtual dinner gatherings, you'll find a place where your grief is understood, your story is honored, and hope is nurtured at your own pace.

This is not about forgetting.
This is not about replacing what was lost.
This is about learning to live forward while carrying love with you.

At The ReWrite™, we believe healing happens in community.

Together, we share.
Together, we laugh.
Together, we remember.
Together, we heal.
Together, we rewrite the next chapter.

The ReWrite™ is more than a gathering.

It is a place to belong.
A place to breathe.
A place to heal.
A place to hope.

Because while loss may change your story,
it does not have to be the end of it.

Meet Your Leadership Team

Dr. Charis M. Rooks

Dr. Charis M. Rooks founded The ReWrite after experiencing the unexpected loss of both her mother in 2023 and her husband, Kent, in 2025. Through her own journey of grief, God birthed a vision to create a Christ-centered ministry where widows and widowers could find hope, healing, biblical encouragement, and authentic community.

Dr. Rooks holds a Ph.D. in Christian Leadership with a specialization in Ministry Leadership, an MBA in Leadership, and is a 2026 graduate of Rhema Bible Training College. She serves as a graduate professor and doctoral chair while authoring books, Bible studies, journals, and ministry resources focused on grief, healing, and spiritual growth.

Her passion is helping widows and widowers discover that while grief changes life, it does not end God's purpose. Through biblical teaching, compassionate leadership, and authentic community, she walks alongside individuals as they find hope, healing, and renewed purpose after the loss of a spouse.
