Private Bereavement Companioning, Coaching, and Logistics for Widows & Widowers
The Compass
by Anchor & Grace Co.
The Compass is for you if:
You lost your spouse and don't know how to keep going
You're grieving alone, and no one around you truly understands
You feel stuck in grief and can't see a way forward
You're exhausted from pretending you're okay
You can't sleep, can't focus, and feel like you're just surviving each day
You're asking, "Why did my spouse have to die?" and no one has answers
You're angry at God, distant from Him, or don't have a faith relationship right now, you're welcome here
You want grief support that doesn't rush you or tell you to "move on."
You need someone to talk to who actually gets widow/widower grief
You don't want to forget your spouse; you want to honor them while learning to live again
Not Sure Where To Begin?
If you're a widow or widower, you may know you need support, but still feel unsure where to begin. Whether your loss is fresh or it's been a while, you don't have to figure this out alone.
In your free 30-minute discovery call, we'll talk through what you're carrying, what support would feel most helpful right now, and what you want your next step to be. If you'd like, we can pray together, but there's no pressure. This is simply a safe space to be heard, ask honest questions (even the "why, God?" ones), and discern what kind of support fits your season.
Your grief matters. Your healing matters. And you deserve support that honors your story and your pace.
"Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will direct your paths." Proverbs 3:5-6

The Compass: One-on-One Bereavement Companioning is more than coaching; it’s a steady, compassionate space to breathe again, one moment at a time. It’s for widows and widowers carrying a loss that changed everything. The one who feels tired in their body, foggy in their mind, and unsure how to move forward without feeling like they’re “moving on” or leaving your spouse behind.
Maybe the grief is still fresh. Maybe it’s been years and it still hits you out of nowhere. Maybe you’re holding it together for everyone else, but falling apart in the quiet. Maybe you love God… and you’re also angry, confused, and asking, “Why would God allow this?” You’re not disqualified for having hard questions. You’re human and you’re grieving. I’ve been there walking through heartbreak, disorientation, and the crushing weight that comes after loss. And in that place, God didn’t rush me. He met me.
These private sessions were created for you, the one who needs presence as much as direction. Here, you don’t have to perform, explain, or have the “right” words. Some sessions will feel like bereavement companioning: steady support, prayer, and space to process what you’re carrying. Other sessions will feel like coaching: gentle guidance, next steps, and practical tools to help you rebuild life with wisdom and grace. You get to choose what you need each time.
Grief changes you, but it doesn’t get to erase you. You are not behind. You are not failing. And you are not alone. I’m here to walk beside you, anchored in faith, grounded in compassion, and committed to helping you find your footing again, one step at a time.

Steady Support In The Valley
Before you try to "move forward," you deserve a safe place to be supported right where you are. Together, we'll create space for honest processing, steady presence, and gentle guidance, so you're not walking through this alone. You can bring your tears, your questions, and even your anger with God. You don't have to have the right words. You just have to show up.
When You Are Holding Back Tears
Life after loss can feel loud, with appointments, responsibilities, decisions, and emotional waves that hit without warning. This space is for widows and widowers who are overwhelmed and tired of trying to "hold it together." In our sessions, we slow down. We breathe. We make room for what's real, without rushing your healing or forcing a smile.
Grace For The Next Step
There may come a moment when you're ready for more than surviving , not because the grief is gone, but because you're ready to feel steady again. Together, we'll identify what feels hardest right now and create a simple plan for support: new rhythms, boundaries, decisions, or rebuilding confidence. You won't be pushed. You won't be rushed. But you will be supported.
I'm Dr. Charis M. Rooks, "Doc", founder of Compass, and I created this space because I needed it too.
I know grief personally. I've walked through deep valleys: identity-shaking, unexpected loss, and the disorienting pain that comes when life doesn't make sense anymore. I've wrestled with the "why, God?" questions. I've had days where faith felt strong, and days where it felt hard to even breathe. And in every season, God met me with grace, steady, patient, and near.
That's why I'm passionate about walking alongside widows and widowers like you, those who are trying to survive what they never asked for, while still longing to live again in a way that honors love, honors faith, and honors the story you shared with your spouse.
If you're grieving and you don't know what you need yet, if you feel angry, numb, overwhelmed, or simply tired, you don't have to do this alone. I'd be honored to walk beside you, one step at a time.
Let's take the next step together. Book your Compass session today.
